As you may already know, Nashville is not served by Amtrak rail service. However, you can still use Amtrak to reach Tennessee's capital city. Here's how:
Amtrak Thruway Bus Services to Chicago and St. Louis
Amtrak, in partnership with Greyhound Bus Lines, operates bus connections from Chicago and Indianapolis to Nashville and from St. Louis to Nashville. Essentially, these are scheduled Greyhound services that honor Amtrak reservations and that connect with select Amtrak trains. Looking at the map inset to the right, the green lines that connect Nashville represent these coordinated bus services. Nashville-Birmingham Thruway Bus - temporarily suspended Amtrak did operate a Thruway Connection that connected Nashville to Amtrak services in Birmingham. The connection was lost in 2021 due to Covid-related service reductions. TARP will be working with service coordinators to get this connection restored in 2023. |
